Project Description

The project involved the construction of an additional in bound lane and road overpasses, removal of rail crossings, provision of service roads and installation of a traffic management system.

Benefits

The project will assist in:

  • reducing traffic congestion;
  • increasing safety;
  • improving access for motorists entering and exiting the highway;
  • reducing travel times; and
  • providing better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.

Funding

The Australian Government provided full funding towards the $150 million project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in October 2011 and was completed in May 2014.
