Old Hereford Road is a collector road from Hereford Road to Old Gippsland Road, with abutting urban residential properties. Due to poor drainage control, there are pavement failures in various sections of the road together with potholes and edge breakes which require ongoing maintenance. The existing width of Old Hereford Road is not sufficient in some locations for effective passing of vehicles due to the limited sight distance. At present the drainage is poorly controlled adjacent to urban properties with the potential for floding.
Reconstruct and widen the existing seal roadway for approximately 1150 metres to a typical 6 metres width, including kerb and channel works. The kerb and channel will allow the road to be widened while minimising impact on the natural vegetation and steep batters in various locations. It is also proposed to incorporate water sensitive design features within the project to manage road drainage.
Total cost of proposed project is $889,788
