This project involved the construction of a dual carriageway four lane road linking the Federal Highway with the Monaro Highway.
Benefits of the project include:
- Improving freight efficiencies along the corridor;
- Relieving traffic congestion and providing better access to the Majura Valley;
- Supporting the expansion of the Canberra Airport; and
- Enabling the better movement of traffic from the north to the south side of Canberra.
The total cost of the project was $303,531,506. The Australian Government contributed $144,000,000 and the Australian Capital Territory Government $159,531,506.
Construction commenced on 5 February 2013 and was completed on 22 April 2016.
