This project is located on one of the bends on Milikapiti Road (an unsealed rural road)and is also located at a low point at the same location. There is no formal drainage at this point with the result that water crosses the road at the bend often resulting in scouring across the road. This is a dangerous situation with two known car accidents occuring one a vehicle roll over.
The work proposed is to raise and superelevate the road through the bend over a distance of 400 metres and to install 1200 X 600 box culvert under the road to convey stormwater from the high side of the road (east) to the low side (west)Other associated drainage will be included such as inlet and outlet structures as well as erosion protection
