Project Description

The construction of three grade separated interchanges on the Tonkin Highway at the intersections of Benara Road, Morley Drive and Collier Road and widening to six lanes.

Benefits

The Tonkin Grade Separations at key road freight intersections will enable safer and more efficient movement of freight around Perth.  It will reduce travel times and congestion, and provide significant productivity benefits to the economy, industry, motorists and local communities. It is also expected to reduce road casualties.

Together with the Swan Valley Bypass, the NorthLink WA projects will provide a continuous connection from the Perth International Airport area to Muchea.

The Australian Government is contributing $184.96 million (*which includes $84.4 million from the $499 million paid to WA as a result of a GST revenue shortfall in 2015-16) towards the $231.2 million project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in June 2016 and is expected to be completed in early 2018.
