The road is classified as a freight route of regional signifance to B-double standard. The road is not sufficiently wide enough or strong enough to allow heavy vehicles to use it and currently, trucks can only pass each other by driving on the unsealed shoulders. The road has recenlty been classified as a by-pass or detour route for the Dukes Highway, but is uable to cope with traffic demands.
Work to be complted during 2013-14 includes the widening of cuttings, provision for drainage, widening shoulders and the construction of batters.
Total cost of proposed project is $2,769,000
