The high-level planning for the project will help determine ways to increase the capacity, and alleviate flooding and safety issues along the stretch of the Bruce Highway between Pine River Bridge and the Caloundra Road Interchange. This project also incorporates the planning for the Managed Motorways Stage 2 Project.
The benefits of the planning project are to identify infrastructure solutions, including the integration of Intelligent Transport System infrastructure, that will address capacity and traffic congestion issues as well as flood immunity.
The Australian Government has committed up to $6.4 million towards the project, in partnership with the Queensland Government.
The Planning project commenced in mid-2016 and is expected to be completed late 2018.
