Project Description

This Port Rail Shuttle is a proposal to develop or upgrade rail connections and metropolitan intermodal terminals in key industrial areas in Melbourne.

Benefits

This project will improve the efficiency of containerised freight movements in the metropolitan area.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $38 million to the project. The Victorian Government has committed $20 million.

Timetable

An Expressions of Interest process to seek proposals for the Port Rail Shuttle Network is currently underway.
