The National Network Strengthening and Widening project is part of the $77 million Northern Territory Roads Package.
The project will involve the strengthening and widening of existing pavements, including bitumen resurfacing, on sections of the Stuart Highway, Victoria Highway and Barkly Highway approaching the end of their economic life.
The strengthening and widening improvements will deliver benefits in safety, reliability and travel times for both industry and other road users.
The Australian Government is providing up to $47 million towards this project.
The first of the works commenced in January 2015 and projects will be completed progressively through until mid 2018.
