Project Description

This arterial dirt road is in urgent need of maintenance and restoration work to rectify natural deterioration. It has severe to moderate potholing in various parts as well as significant corrugation and rutting. The road surface has also become fragmented resulting in excessive loose gravel and other material. In addition some parts of the road are seriously overgrown with roadside vegetation and weeds growing through the road surface. These problems represent significant safety hazards for road users including Oak Valley community members and service providers, suppliers, mining workers, tourists and other travellers due to the poor condition of the road and increased risk of collision with camels and other large animals emerging from the overgrown parts of roadsides.

Grading and other remedial work including filling holes, clearing roadside and road surface vegetation, re-widening, watering and rolling. Work will commence at Oodea to the Western Australian border which includes a section from Cross Road to Cook. Total area graded is 498km
