The existing junction has relatively high maintenance costs and the existing pavement is failing due to traffic from the Cattle Track turning across the superelevation on Main Road. This Y-Junction has become a major safety concern due to the increased traffic volumes using it.
The work proposed includes a re-alignment of the y-junction at Cattle Track and Main Road. The existing tight (220 metre radius) curve on Main Road will be replaced with a 450 metre radius curve and a straight prior to the junction. The new junction will be widened with with an 8 metre wide seal and 1.5 metre wide unsealed shoulders and have a new BAL left turn treatment and a BAR right turn treatment.
Total cost of proposed project is $498,892
