Steadily increasing visitor numbers to the Bald Hill Reerve and lookout are creating increases in traffic and pedestrian safety issues. The current facilities have no off road parking for northbound tourist coaches which cannot use the carpark since it has facilities for buses/coaches. The exisitng arrangements require northbound tourist coaches to make an illegal U turn on Lady Carrington Drive to retrun to park on Otford rd adjacent to the reserve and lookout. On busy days the car park fills up and vehicles park on otford road resulting in increase pedestrain movements around and across Otford road and the enterance to the car park. The result is significant risks to both vehicle and pedestrains.
Major relaignment of a section of Otford Road combined with construction of a new roundabout entry to enhanced off road car parking facilities plus increased capacity for bus and coach parking on the east side of Otford road which allows for safer pedestrain movements between the bus/coaches and Bald Hill Reserve.
Total cost of proposed project is $2,000,000
