The current road is unsealed and dust and loose material are problematic making the road unsafe. There is history of road accidents on this road and upgrading to a sealed surface will help reduce the risk of further accidents occurring. The road is a social, tourist and freight route for the region. Stage 1 of this project is part of a bigger project to seal the route to Kyancutta-Mount Wedge Road with neighbouring council District Council of Elliston.
The 7 kilometre section of road will be sealed with a two coat spray seal to 10 metres seal lane width, the shoulders will be 3 metres with a 13 metre carriageway.
Total cost of proposed project is $3,734,600
