The existing condition of the road has been rated as very poor. Based on road condition and the existing width of the sealed road being inadequate for the traffic volumes the above section of the Pirrinuan Malakoff Road has been scheduled for reconstruction.
Reconstructing a rural collector road to Councils current standards from 3.8km to 6.8km. Taking the road from a substandard 5.5m bitumen seal road with a condition rating of 9 out of 10 to a 8m wide bitumen seal with a 9 m formation. Some work was done on this road under the 2013 flood damage. This flood damage works highlights the bad condition of the rest of the road.
