The Bridges Renewal Programme (BRP) funds bridge projects that will upgrade and repair bridges and enhance access for local communities and facilitate higher productivity vehicle access. The Australian Government will contribute up to fifty per cent of the total project cost and projects are selected through a competive, merit based process.

The objectives of the programme are to upgrade and repair bridges to enhance access for local communities and facilitate higher productivity vehicle access.
The Australian Government committed $300 million to the BRP from 2015-16 to 2018-19. In the 2016-17 Federal Budget this was extended by $60 million per year from 2019-20.
Round One projects commenced from mid-2015 and are expected to be completed by mid-2017.
Round Two projects commenced from early 2016 and are expected to be completed by mid-2018.
