The construction of the Ballinyoo Bridge has been successfully completed but 5 kilometres of road south of the bridge was damaged during gravel haulage. The contractor has done a maintenance grade, but the road needs re-forming and re-sheeting. Also, the bitumised southern approach is only 700 metres long, which creates safety issues for road-trains and general travellers. An application has been made to vary the unspent Mid West Investment Plan funds to extend the bitumen south for 5 kilometres and a contribution from another party would certainly help our case.
Re-form, re-sheet and seal with four metre bitumen the Carnarvon Mullewa Road between Straight Line Kilometre 2.7 and Straight Line Kilometre 7.7 south from the intersection with the New Forest Yallalong Road.
Total cost of proposed project is $1,285,000
