The existing gravel pavement has become unsuitable to the ever increasing traffic volumes resulting from high growth in the region in relation to road safety.
Maintenance demands to provide an acceptable level of service to the community is increasing in line with the growth of traffic. The sealing of the gravel road is a good investment from an asset management perspective when considering the long term maintenance costs associated with regrading the pavement up to five times a year and resheeting with gravel every 5 years.
The increased traffic is also amplifying the dust nuisance to nearby residents who have repeatedly petitioned for the sealing of Lightbody Road in recent years.
Upgrade gravel pavement to sealed pavement
Total cost of proposed project is $366,682
