This is a classified main road that has approximately 15 kilometres of unsealed pavement. With the sealing of the route between Nowra and Nerriga, the road has experienced a marked increase in through traffic with traffic counts often reaching in excess of 500 vehicles per day. The section earmarked for attention here is unsealed and narrow. It is very high maintenance (by virtue of the traffic loadings). It is dusty when dry and can quickly become potholed and rough when wet.
The work proposes to construct and seal about two kilometres of the currently unsealed section of Nerriga Road from the end of the existing seal at Grants Road in a northerly direction toward Nerriga. The pavement width will be nominally 11 metres wide with a 9 metres seal. The works will include drainage improvements, guardrail, guideposts, signs and linemarking.
