The unsealed road surface is experiencing numerous potholes with significant vegetation at the edge of the road. Combined with the significant daily traffic usage including freight, and 100km speed limit there is significant manitenance costs being incurred and a high level of safety risk to travellers.
Stage 1 of the work proposed includes sealing and widening of 4 kilometres of Nine Mile Road to bring it up to a 9.2 metre standard width (current road width varies between 5-7.2 metres), significant roadside vegetation removal, pavement reconstruction, road surface sealing and geometrical improvements.
Total cost of proposed project is $1,800,000
