Project Description

The project will investigate options to duplicate and electrify the existing rail line and upgrade associated infrastructure between Frankston and Baxter. The project will also consider the location of stations and parking at the Frankston Public Hospital, Baxter and Leawarra, the location of new stabling facilities and level crossing upgrades.


The project will develop a business case that will help determine the economic, environmental and social costs and benefits of those options and improve access for communities to services and employment.


The Australian Government is fully funding this $4 million project.


The project is expected to commence in mid 2018 and be completed in late 2019.
