The last five years of crash history reveals three crashes; two serious injury and one other injury. The three accidents were vehicles turning right out of Switchback Road. These accidents resulted due to misjudgement of the available gap and failure to give way. Peak hour delays for turning traffic encourages drivers to take risks and turn into shorter gaps in traffic. Vehicles exiting Switchback Road are also impacted by the road gradient, which is uphill 15%. Sight distances at the intersection meet minimum requirements but not desirable standards due to the gradients of the approach roads.
Intersection improvements including new signals, footpaths, Disability Discrimination Act (Accessible) pram crossings, lighting and linemarking
