Mary and Robinson Street intersection is a staggered intersection posing difficulties to the traffic passing through it. The existing site distances are not compliant with standards and at peak hours traffic build up severely poses problems to vehicular traffic and caused safety issues specially for parents transporting school children.
The new design is to improve the site distance by lowering the utility services and construct various traffic calming devices such as medians and roll over round about to create a standard roundabout like environment that can regulate the traffic and allows safe crossing of vehicular traffic. Due to the staggered shape of the intersection a standard normal roundabout was not feasible to be construction without land acquisition and other major changes to road alignment which would have made the project uneconomical.
Total cost of proposed project is $509,000
