The project will upgrade approximately 40 kilometres of Forrest Apollo Bay Road, Skenes Creek Road and Birregurra-Forrest Road in south west Melbourne. The project will also provide for the design and construction of a range of improvement works including slow vehicle turnouts, shoulder sealing and barrier installation.
The project is expected to improve driver safety and travel times.
The estimated cost of the project is $10 million. The Australian and Victorian governments are each contributing $5 million.
Construction works commenced in November 2017 and are expected to be complete in early 2020.
