This project will involve upgrading targeted sections of the Great Alpine Road from Cobungra to Bruthen in Victoria. The works will include widening lanes and shoulders; installing safety barriers, rock netting, catch fencing and slow vehicle pull-over areas; and delineation and batter works.
The project is expected to improve safety and efficiency for all road users and support the economic growth in the Alpine region.
The estimated cost of the project is $10 million. The Australian and Victorian governments are each contributing $5 million.
Construction commened on 9 October 2017 and is expected to be completed in early 2021.
