Project Description

The project will construct a new rail bridge over the Avon River, south of Stratford, and decomission the existing bridge infrastructure. 

Benefits

The project will replace the existing bridge which is nearing end of life, resulting in the removal of temporary speed restrictions over the Avon River Bridge.

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing $86 million to the project and the Victorian Government $9 million.

Timetable

The project is expected to commence construction in mid-2019 and be complete in late 2020.
