The project will upgrade the Geelong Rail Line.
The project is expected to improve the frequency and reliability of passenger services on the Geelong Rail Line.
The estimated cost of the project is $110 million. The Australian Government is contributing $99 million and the Victorian Government is contributing $11 million.
In the 2018-19 Budget, the Australian Government committed an additional $50 million towards further upgrades, taking its total commitment to improving passenger services on the Geelong Rail Line to $149 million.
The Australian Government is working with the Victorian Government to finalise implementation arrangements for both commitments.
