The project will upgrade the Leach Highway (High Street) from Carrington Street to the Stirling Highway from a four-lane undivided road to a four-lane carriageway on an improved alignment. The upgrade will include the reconfiguration of the intersection with the Stirling Highway.
The improved design will reduce crash risk at the intersection of Leach Highway (High Street) and Stirling Highway, and will provide more reliable access to Fremantle Inner Harbour.
The Australian Government has committed $73.62 million to the project. The Western Australian Government will contribute $44.38 million.
The project is in the planning phase, with construction expected to commence in early 2019.
