Infrastructure Investment Response to COVID-19

The Australian Government is investing $120 billion over 10 years from 2022-23 in land transport infrastructure across Australia through its rolling infrastructure pipeline, most of which is delivered under the Infrastructure Investment Program.

These projects will help the Australian economy recover from the COVID-19 pandemic by creating jobs and strengthening the transport connections needed to keep moving.

In June 2020, the Australian Government announced a $1.5 billion infrastructure stimulus package in response to COVID-19, including:

  • $1 billion for shovel-ready projects that can commence within 6 months; and
  • $500 million for Targeted Road Safety Works delivered by states and territories that can be completed within 12 months.
