Roads of Strategic Importance
The Australian Government is investing $4.6 billion in the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative to help connect regional businesses to local and international markets, and better connect regional communities.
ROSI will ensure our key freight roads efficiently connect agricultural and mining regions to ports, airports and other transport hubs. It will deliver works such as road sealing, flood immunity, strengthening and widening, pavement rehabilitation, bridge and culvert upgrades and road realignments.
Improved access provided through ROSI will deliver substantial social and economic benefits, including opportunities for greater regional employment and business growth.
On 13 October 2018, the Government released the ROSI Investment Principles PDF: 1168 KB , which set out the objectives for investment through ROSI.
ROSI will support upgrades to the following 26 key freight corridors, and approximately 50 other ROSI initiatives across Australia:
