Western Sydney North South Rail Link Package
The Australian Government is contributing $3.5 billion to deliver the first stage of the North South Rail Link with the NSW Government.
The Australian and NSW governments will be equal partners in funding the first stage of the North South Rail Link.
The Australian Government contribution includes:
- $50 million towards the business case process for the North South Rail Link through the Western Sydney City Deal. The Australian and NSW governments are each contributing up to $50 million to a business case process, in consultation with local government, to inform the delivery of the first stage of the North South Rail Link.
- $3.45 billion towards the construction of Stage 1 of the North South Rail link from St Marys to Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport and Badgerys Creek Aerotropolis. This funding is inclusive of the $61 million to construct the Elizabeth Drive Overpass—an essential piece of infrastructure that will enable safe, cost-effective and efficient access for the metro service to the airport site.
