Project description

The project will upgrade approximately 3 kilometres of the Ipswich Motorway between Granard Road and Oxley Road to three lanes in each direction, and will include a northern service road across Oxley Creek, improvements to ramps and the construction of higher bridges over Oxley Creek (7 bridges in total). It will also see an extension to Boundary Road to connect the two industrial areas of Rocklea and Carole Park.

Benefits

The project is expected to deliver the following benefits:

  • economic growth through an improved transport network
  • improved travel times and reliability for freight and passenger traffic
  • improvements to adequately cater for future traffic demand
  • improved flood immunity through construction of higher bridges over Oxley Creek

Funding

The Australian Government will provide a capped contribution of $200 million, in partnership with the Queensland Government.

Timetable

Major construction commenced in October 2017 and the motorway was open to traffic in January 2021.
