Project Description

The project involved the construction of an additional in bound lane and road overpasses, removal of rail crossings, provision of service roads and installation of a traffic management system.


The project will assist in:

  • reducing traffic congestion
  • increasing safety
  • improving access for motorists entering and exiting the highway
  • reducing travel times
  • providing better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians


The Australian Government fully funded the project, contributingĀ $145.2 million.


Construction commenced in October 2011 and was completed inĀ April 2014.
