The project involved the realignment and raising of a four kilometre section of the Bruce Highway from Sandy Corner to Collinsons Lagoon, nine kilometres north of Ayr.
The project will improve flood immunity and the reliability and safety of transport operations on this section of the Bruce Highway.
The Australian Government provided $38.7 million to the project, in partnership with the Queensland Government.
Construction commenced in September 2012 and was completed in February 2015.
