Project Description

Upgrading of an existing unsealed rural road to a sealed standard. The road is a heavily used road and a critical linkage between the townships of Booleroo Centre and Pekina (and ultimately Orroroo). It is an important freight, tourist and social route. In its current form, the road quickly deteriorates following maintenance and is unsafe once pot holes and rutting occur. There is also a danger associated with dust during dryer periods and during the wetter months, the road is slippery. The commuity does not accept that a road of this level of importance should be unsealed.

Upgrade and seal 6400 metres of the Booleroo Centre to Pekina road. Sealing will commence from the end of the existing seal on the Eastern side of the Booleroo Centre township and will continue right through to the Council boundary. The nighbouring Council is also upgrading and sealing their section of the road as part of this joint project.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,590,000
