The existing road pavement requires widening to provide an on road bicycle lane identified in the Latrobe City Council Bicycle Plan. The pavement also requires reconstruction because it is in poor condition due to poor pavement materials and soft subgrade ie road making sand with high Plasticity Index. The condition of the kerb and channel has deteriorated and is unserviceable.
The works involve the reconstruction and widening of the road pavement and the replacement of kerb and channel.
Stage one will envolve completing the left hand side of the road, whilst stage two will complete the right hand side of the road. The two sides are seperated by a median strip and therefore is easier to manage traffic by splitting the job into two stages.
Total cost of proposed project is $1,992,900
