Project DescriptionMurray Street was removed from the State's arterial road network and transferred to council in 2004. In the years following this change, Council have embarked on a program of upgrades and alternations to the road aimed at reducing the impacts of through traffic, particuarly heavy commercial, with a view to improving safety and restoring a pedestrian friendly characteristic to the main retail centre of Gawler and surrounding districts.
The work proposed for 2012-13 represents Stage 5 of the works for Murray Street. This project has been funded in previous years (2007-08 and 2009-10 to 2011-12)out of the Special Local Roads Program - Financial Assistance Grants and Supplementary Local Road Grants, providing a total of $1.415 million. Stage 5 of the works include footpath works on the western side of Murray Street between Calton Road and Bridge Street.
Total cost of proposed project is $660,000 |
