Project Description

The project involved the widening, reconstruction and pavement overlay of the Great Eastern Highway in various sections between Walgoolan and Coolgardie. These works have provided a seal width of nine metres with one metre unsealed shoulders.


The project will improve the safety and efficiency of freight movements and reduce the crash rate by providing safer overtaking opportunities.


The Australian Government provided up to $21.5 million to the project, in partnership with the Western Australian Government.


Construction commenced in July 2014 and was completed in April 2015.
