Project DescriptionStokes Bay Road was reconstructed and re-sealed during 2011-12. Following completion of this project, Council undertook a road safety audit to ensure that the completed project had addressed all of the relevant saftey concerns. The Audit identified a number of safety improvements to be completed on the road, particuarly in terms of deficiencies in saftey driving on the road at night and safety for road users in the final 4.8 kilometres up to Stokes Bay, where the road is characterised by a steep descent and sharp road curves.
The proposed work includes the installation of additional guard railing, line marking, vegetation clearance, shoulder sealing and signage improvements. As part of this work, consideration of a reduced speed zone will also be addressed.
Total cost of proposed project is $4,722,079 |
