Project DescriptionThe project will upgrade priority sections of the Great Northern Highway between Muchea and Wubin, including bypasses and other realignments; intersection upgrades, construction of rest areas, and widening and construction of additional overtaking lanes. BenefitsThe upgrade will improve freight productivity, reduce travel times and improve safety on a national network highway that is a key link for the transport of equipment and supplies to the resources industry in the north of Western Australia. FundingThe Australian Government is contributing $275.8 million towards the $344.75 million project. TimetableConstruction of the first project commenced in late 2014, with all projects completed in early 2021. |
