Project DescriptionThis project involves the upgrade of 210km of the main access road from the Stuart Highway to Pukatja and improvements to 21km of community roads, including improvements to roads leading to airstrips in Pukatja, Umuwa, Fregon, Mimili and Indulkana, and to the Umuwa power station. BenefitsThe project will provide community and emergency management access, better food supply reliability through improved freight access, and access to employment and economic opportunities. FundingThe Australian Government is contributing $141.78 million towards the $113.424 million project. TimetableConstruction commenced in March 2017 and is expected to be completed by 2021. |
