Project Description

This Port Rail Shuttle is a proposal to develop or upgrade rail connections and metropolitan intermodal terminals in key industrial areas in Melbourne.


This project will improve the efficiency of containerised freight movements in the metropolitan area.


The Australian Government has committed $38 million to the project. The Victorian Government has committed $20 million.


Construction on the new rail connections will commence late 2020 and will be undertaken through to mid 2023.
