Project DescriptionByrnes Road provides an important link between Junee and Wagga and has been identified as a regionally significant freight route. The existing intersection of Byrnes, Harefield and Patterson's Road poses a significant road safety issue due to the short stacking distance for the large trucks; a result of the close proximity of the intersection to the Sydney/Melbourne at grade railway level crossing. This has a flow on effect of significantly constricting the movement of freight into and out of the Harefield Intermodal Terminal.
The project entails the construction of a 1.1km deviation in the alignment of Byrnes Road, effectively moving the intersection of Byrnes Road and Harefield Road 140m east, upgrading the intersection layout and increase the road's resistance against flooding.
Total cost of proposed project is $1,200,000 |
