The existing timber bridge across the Coomera River along Guanaba Creek Road is narrow, on a poor road aligment and is at the end of its useful life. In times of high rainfall residents of the Guanaba/Maudsland region cannot access the area due to flood waters over the bridge. Bridge replacement and road realigment works will improve road safety and access to the area during times of high rainfall.
Works entail improvements to the existing road alignment, replacement of the existing timber bridge as well as improving road flood immunity standards. The length of the project is 510m which entails a reinforced concrete bridge 69m in length. The project is programmed to be completed during the 2014/15 financial year.
Total cost of proposed project is $8,576,678
