This project involved the upgrade of an existing way side stop, located southbound on the Calder Highway at Ravenswood, to a formalised truck rest area with appropriate facilities.
This upgrade will now allow trucks, buses and caravans to access the rest area, enabling all road users to utilise the new facilities. It will also increase safety for drivers by reducing fatigue related crashes.
The estimated cost of the project was $8.2 million. The Australian Government contributed $6,150,000 and the Victorian Government $2,050,000.
Construction commenced on 11 September 2017 and was completed in 9 November 2018.
