Project Description

The project involved the construction of a 1.3 kilometre southbound overtaking lane and new turn lanes onto Smiths Road on the Strzelecki Highway south of Driffield.


The project is expected to reduce driver frustration and the potential for driver error, resulting from frustration, by increasing the opportunity to overtake safely on the highway.


The Australian Government has committed $3,028,710 to this project.


The project commenced on 2 February 2015 and was completed on 4 March 2016.
