One of 20 projects delivered as part of the Australian Government's $508 million commitment to the Warrego Highway Upgrade Program.
The project upgraded the existing Warrego Highway rail open level crossing at Chinchilla, including an upgrade to intersections to allow for safer traffic movements, including the upgrade of existing rail crossing warning signs and the installation of railway boom gates.
The project eliminated the conflict in traffic movements and improved safety, capacity and efficiency at this location.
The Australian Government provided up to $15.2 million to the project in partnership with the Queensland Government.
Construction commenced in April 2019 and was completed in September 2020.
