Project DescriptionThe project replaced bridges at Big Horse Creek and Little Horse Creek crossings on the Victoria Highway, with new high level bridges and upgrades to the approach road to improve flood immunity. BenefitsThe project delivered new bridges able to withstand up to a 1 in 20 years flood event to improve the level of flood immunity of the Victoria Highway and provide more reliable access for road users. Closures due to flooding of up to four days were experienced prior to this project, these upgrades will see this reduced to less than 12 hours. FundingThe Australian Government committed up to $20.01 million towards the project, in partnership with the Northern Territory Government. TimetableConstruction commenced in late 2017 and major works were completed in July 2019. |
