The project involves widening the existing formation, providing an improved heavy duty pavement and constructing two overtaking lanes on the Newell Highway between Mungle Back Creek and Boggabilla.
The project will:
- Enhance travel reliability and times
- Improve productivity of NSW road freight network
- Reduce vehicle operating costs
- Reduce maintenance costs
- Improve road safety
The Australian Government has committed $61.4 million towards the $122.0 million project.
The project commenced construction in November 2018 and was completed in mid 2020.
