Project Description

The project strengthened eight bridges on the Monash Freeway from Ferntree Gully Road to Gladstone Road.


The project increased the load capacity of bridges on the Monash Freeway from 68 tonnes to 113 tonnes. This has increased capacity, reduced operating costs and provided greater flexibility for heavy vehicles operators.


The total cost of the project is $8,363,201. The Australian Government contributed $6,413,201 and the Victorian Government $1,950,000.


Construction commenced on 16 May 2016 and was completed on 22 November 2016.
