Project DescriptionThe current road has a speed limit of 100km/h however in its current condition is unfit for purpose. The existing sealed pavement is 5.9m wide and has severe wheel-rut depressions exceeding 100mm deep. There is also severe longitudinal cracking that is allowing moisture into the pavement and the subgrade. Gap Road is a regionally significant community access road and also a locally important freight route and safety of all road users will be improved by this upgrade.
The work proposed to 2.5 kilometres of Gap Road includes a complete reconstruction from the subgrade to seal. The existing pavement has a 5.9m seal with grass covered shoulders. The new pavement will be widened to a 9m wide pavement at 400mm deep. This will be sealed to a width of 7.0m wide. Lane width of the roadway will be 3.1m and 4.1m shoulder of which 400mm will be sealed.
Total cost of proposed project is $1,720,000 |
